After yesterday’s mega blast at The Ray, Southend sailing 140 km with 4 year PB’s and with our van in for a MOT? Service tomorrow I was keen to get out today although a little knackered! Andy and Robert were meeting at The Manor at 10.30 so I had time to do my exercises before heading down after the rain had cleared. Sadly, the rain had killed the wind and was west at this point but after a chat it swung back side shore and picked up a little. I rigged 7, Andy 6.6 and Robert 6. Andy was first away but struggled to get flying at first but by the time I was ready it was OK. I was soon up and flying and headed up the coast on a 3.50 broad run playing with the swell great fun but the wind was a tad patchy. There were several kiters out at The Dip our turning point today but the wind had now picked up to 20 knots and the sea was now very big making it a challenging beat back but very interesting none the less. I was going to go in and switch to a fin as there were a few out on the fin but it was still a little up and down so had a couple of nice runs out to Wadgate post, the foil making the foil making light work of the messy big sea, I just needed a smaller sail for a more relaxing sail! I then decided to come in and have a few runs on my fin board but it was not great as the sea was a lumpy mess, much easier on the foil! It was hard to go fast but the sun was out and after a slow ride out you could sail the swell back. So an OK three hours making this my 100th session of the year including 63 on the foil!
