Tuesday 3rd June – Windsurf **** The Dip at Felixstowe – cloudy and windy.
Foil – 16.52 knot max, 5.97 knot ave., 1.50 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 3.24 km., 0.00 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Nalu 4.2.
The forecast was for a sw gusting well over 30 knots with rain showers so I just should have stayed away from Felixstowe seafront but I was tempted down as a few fin sailer were heading down to The Dip as the tide dropped. With the fin sailors rigging between 4 and 5m and not much of a shore dump I decided to give foiling a try and rigged my 4.2. I launched OK but soon realised the sea was too big, the large sea not helping so after one run out I decided to err on the side of caution and call it a day as this was my biggest sail. Shame really as I would have been ok it I had the right sized sail, just don’t go out to sea when the wind is gusting to 35 knots! Still I had a nice chat with a few mates I haven’t seen fo awhile before going ound to an old friends in the afternoon! Might have another go tomorrow with a lot less wind!
