Monday 3rd July - Windsurf **** River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods.

Foil – 21.09 knot max, 19.36 knot ave, 13.29 knot hour, 17.78 knot mile, 51.59 km., 15.84 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Evolution 5.6 and Tushingham Storm 5.2.

We wee going to see the Granddaughter today but had a change of plan which left me fee to head over to Levington once again, nice and sunny too. Mag said she would take the bus later to Trimley and walk down to the marina for lunch so I packed a picnic and headed off. I arrived at the marina around nine with loads of water and about 20 mph of wind, with more in the middle of the river so I set up my foil board as two more foilers arrived, Ian and Robert. It looked the same wind as yesterday but choose to rig a little bigger today, my 5.6 with the others using a 5 and 5.3. I was first away and thought I had rigged too small but was quickly proved wrong as it was gusting to 25 knots, I stated to beat upriver but there was a big swell running down the and the other two headed towards Felixstowe but it did look patchy towards Felixstowe. We then swopped with the other two sailing towards Pin Mill while I had some cracking runs down to the docks, flying most of the time in some big gusts too, the water was much flatter here too and I managed to break 20 knots 4 times today, with 8 mile runs over 15 knots with some cacking gybes too. The only time I went it is when my foil beached pushing too hard and I managed to put my hand through my sail. I had to return to the van to change sails, rigging my 5.2 and did another 15 miles on this. With the wind going  a bit patchy I decided to call it a day, good decision as Mag had arrived, so I quickly showered and had lunch before heading for home, that’s 4 sessions in as many days so could be time for a day off!!!
