Tuesday 4th October - Windsurf *** - The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods then clouded over.

Starboard Freeride 150 and an Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Thunderbird 6.5.

Today is the start of a run of breezy days but I was a little limited for time today as Maggie finally got me an emergency appointment at the dentist at 2.35 after trying for three days so I headed down to The Manor at 10.15. I was hoping it might be windy enough for my fin board but sadly it was not, it was sunny with a nice breeze blowing slightly offshore so I set up my foil board. I then took a chance with my 6.5 just in case it picked up enough to fin and launched at 10.40. I soon reached the wind line and was soon flying across the smooth swell but sadly the wind was very up and down, there seemed to be a band of wind close in but got lighter the further you sailed out! This is my first sea session for 2 days and it took me a few runs to feel comfortable, with my gybing improving I was interested to see how that transferred onto the sea, I went off the back on my first attempt but then corrected that, then the only thing that held the turning back was the inconsistent wind :( I was joined on the water around midday by a few sailors launched a few groynes down the coast and the wind improved slightly and I had a few runs out to Wadgate and beyond. I thought I was running out of time so headed in in find a sea angler setting up in front of my board bag and asked him the time, 1.15, perfect timing to pack up after being on the water two and a half hours. I had time to get home, shower and walk to the dentist and you guess it my tooth was feeling OK, still we arranged to have a crown fitted but not until December! I then joined Mag at an old friend for a chat with a cuppa and cake, Mag noticed for the second time in a week I have a really bloodshot eye so called into Specsavers and the optician saw me straight away saying I had slightly high blood pressure! As for tomorrow with winds supposed to gust to 40 knots, I am not sure if I will sail or not?
