Saturday 20th August - Windsurf *** - River Orwell at Levington – sunny periods.

Starboard Freeride 150 and Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Thunderbird 6.5.

Was hoping to go to The Manor at 10 this morning for a foil but the wind was too light and pretty offshore too so did my exercises in the sunny back garden instead. The wind was building a little so I arranged with Robert to meet up at Levington around 2.30 to see if we could get out? So, after lunch I sorted my trailer out, loaded Mag’s bike and set off to the marina arriving at 2.15. There seemed lots of wind out on the river with loads of yachts making the most of the breeze, Mag heads for home on her bike as I set up my foil board. Robert arrives and the wind becomes very up and down but with both rig, me 6.5 and Robert 6m. There was enough wate to beat out of the marina entrance but the wind was now vey light, in fact I thought I was going to struggle to get back! I stopped to take a pic of an old barge, there were several out this afternoon:) Then we spent a couple of hours playing hunt the gust, when the wind was up it was really good but it was very patchy but I got some nice gybes in and managed to break 20 knots for the first time on my new Starboard kit so not too bad! Lighter Robert had lots of flying runs so not a waste of time. Then back up and head for the marina shower, on checking the wind stats when getting home we would probably been better off on the sea but I thought I might have had trouble parking especially as it is the weekend!
