Wednesday 24th  September  – Windsurf ***** River Stour at Wrabness  –  sunny.

Foil – 19.79  knot max, 18.32 knot ave., 12.68  knot hour, 15.41 knot mile, 63.26 km., 14.65 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Nalu 4.75.

After taking a day off yesterday I was back on the Stour for another pretty full-on session, will this wind ever stop blowing and one more day tomorrow but not sure what to do as tied up for a while in the morning? Once again Mag accompanied me again and we arrived at the quiet Wrabness at 11. You are sheltered at the parking spot but after taking my board to the beach I walked yp to the first beach bungalows to gauge the wind and was surprised that it was gusting over 25 mph so I rigged my 4.75 which actually turned out pretty much perfect, I might have gone a little faster with a slightly bigger sail but I love foiling with this sail, it is so easy to turn and once flying it is surprising how well it sails through the lulls! Launching in plenty of water at 11.45 I was soon up and flying and didn’t look back, for the main it was just me with a few wingers joining in from Bradfield later but I had pretty much the whole of Holbrook bay to myself doing lovely long runs across the river as I sailed past the impressived Holbrook School making into the next bay past the end of Wrabness where it was particularly breezy, I then enjoyed some top broad runs back downwind running down the swells, with the wind ENE there was a good swell running! I ended up up in front of the Bradfield launch beach before beating back as I was getting knackered, in the end I had been on the water for three hours, Mag was just about to send out a search party, I just needed to do one more run to get a years best distance but still sailed a fraction under 40 miles, not bad for an old boy:)  I then enjoyed lunch in the van to hear about Mags day, she had walked inland along the lovely arched path that leads past the church and down to the end of Wrabness and back along the beach, just making it back before the tide cut her off! Mag then drove home and I did whizz down quickly to Felixstowe dock view point to catch the sunset – top day:)
