Another breezy day of sunshine and showers, once again turning heavy late in the afternoon with thunder and lightning, luckily I had finished my windsurf session by then! I arrived at Squiz Lane just after 9.30 with Mag for her daily walk home , bumping into Neil and Craig Hurrell out on their bikes stopping for a chat:) At this point things looked good with the wind blowing straight down the beach and sunny so I set up my foil board, rigging my 5m sail. While starting to put my wetsuit on I realized I had left my small rucksack which I use to carry spares and my marine radio at home so I quickly headed for home to pick it up as a large black cloud approached:( After briefly helping Mag cut some ivy I headed back to the beach by which time the first rain had arrived and the wind had eased back! I walked into the caravan park to have a word with fellow windsurfer Al Wiz, then noticed two fin sailors on the water as the wind picked up so I headed back, I nearly rigged my 5.75 but decided against it which was lucky as the small sail worked well especially as the sea was quite lumpy and going fast was challenging at times! I did my usual long runs out, the best bit was sailing through the Wadgate break where there is a nice area of smooth water then playing with the swells on the way back. There was another quick shower but that quickly cleared with the rest of my session was done in sunshine:) My sea gybing continues to be OK although I did drop one today ending up briefly in the water, then getting knackered I decided to call it a day after nearly two hours on the water with I think 4 fin sailors and a single winger. I was home by 1.30 to send a few pics to the TV weather and check on Mags day. I then headed up the town to do some shopping as it’s Mags 65th Birthday on Tuesday, how did we become so old???? I was lucky to get back before some heavy rain arrived!
