Windsurf ****
A breeze from the south was forecast today increasing during the day with showers arriving so I headed down to The Manor early to make the most of the sunshine and lighter winds, also wanted to get out before the tide got too high, lucky I did as it became very rough at high tide with a huge shore dump! I parked in Squiz Lane at 8.45 with Mag so she could have her daily walk which was good in sunshine with a tail wind! With the the cross on it did look a little lumpy out to sea but I decided to give it a try as it was lovely and sunny so quickly set up my foil board, at this point my 6.5 would have been OK but with it expected to build I went for my 5.75 waiting for a quiet spot to launch I headed out, under to start with but I managed to run down the swell and pump up onto the foil and with the wind in this direction I could sail up the coast fairly near the beach. I did beat as I wanted to make sure I could get back as it was marginal with the small sail but once up and flying I could keep it going. I had two long runs up to The Fludyers past the pier and on my third run I decided to continue down to The Dip, the sea was big in places as the onshore wind picks it up! On the way back the wind changed direction slightly and was building meaning I had to gybe by The Manor tower and head out. The sea had picked up as had the wind which made me a little nervous especially when my foil left the water twice dumping me in, I decided to call it a day and managed to land with no problems. I managed to pack up and make it home before the first shower arrived! It was a fairly short session but great fun non the less:)
Walk ****
As I got home early it would be nice to do something with Mag but the weather now was a little hit and miss so after packing a picnic lunch our plan was to walk down to the seafront and have it in the pa gardens sheltered from the fresh breeze! We made it down to the pier to watch the wild sea, the tide was tide and there were some huge waves rolling up the beach, it had also started to rain so we decided to sit on the sheltered side of the pie for lunch to watch the noisy waves roll in, just brilliant with light rain falling all the time! Things defiantly quietened down and the wind dropped to about 10 knots! After lunch we decided to carry on with the walk despite the light rain which was on our backs, it did quickly stop and it was brilliant being out, we love living by the sea! Some workmen were erecting platforms for beach huts on the beach as the water washed all around, the sea could cause problems for these huts in the future! At The Fludyers we headed inland past Harvest House to the town centre to get a few things before returning home with more light showers for the rest of the afternoon!
