Wednesday 15th July – Windsurf ***** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

Foil – 18.91 knot max, 17.77 knot ave., 12.69 knot hour, 15.41 knot mile, 55.34 km., 13.95 knot alpha.  

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5m.

I had a drive to Kirton early still looking for a combine, came back via Gulpher Road to the Ferry to take a few weather pics !

Couldnt face another 50 mile road trip into deepest Essex for a foil on the Stour today so I decided to head down to The Dip here in Felixstowe late in the afternoon. So spent the day at home, exercises in the garden, a bit of reading and dozing after yesterdays 46 mile sail! Mag headed out to visit our old friend Mary, then I put my shortie on at home, discovered I had left my vhf radio at Wrabness and then continued down to our little windsurf car park which was slowly filling up with a mix of fin sailors, wingers and another windsurf foiler plus the usual kite surfers a little way along the beach by the small lagoon! I asked fellow windsurfer Paul S what sail he would rig for windsurf foiling in 20 knots plus of wind, he has a chart on his phone, he said a 5m which I then rigged and it was absolutely perfect for  lovely mellow session with a lot of messing about with the waves especially on the way in! There was enough beach to launch easily and I was soon up and flying doing mile runs out to the yellow racing bouy where the sea was once again pretty big but managed to get most of my gybes. Sailing back was great fun especially near the beach where the sea was super smooth, I even tried two duck gybes, ending up in the water both times :) Then with the wind easing I decided to call it a day, I had been out a couple of hours sailing 26 miles!

Later in the evening I messaged Jason a windsurfing mate who lives at Mistley who then drove down to Wrabness as it got dark to see if my radio was still there, sadly not :(
