Sunday 7th June – Windsurf ***** The Manor at Felixstowe – mainly sunny.

Foil – 19.03 knot max, 17.96 knot ave., 13.31 knot hour, 16.53 knot mile, 75.33 km (year PB)., 13.59 knot alpha.  

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5.75.

After giving yesterdays fresh breeze and rain a miss yesterday although Mag and I had a lovely afternoon walk along Felixstowe prom to watch the crashing waves and the sun even came out I was keen to get out on the water today! The forecast today was good, starting WSW, a tad offshore then swinging SW 15 to 20 knots with sunshine and with low water at 10.20 I was keen to get down early especially as it was Sunday and I wanted to get a parking spot near the beach in Squiz Lane. I arrived by the sea at 8.20 and although there was a few campervans there I was lucky to get prime position at the end in wall to wall sunshine with a nice cross off breeze. I took a few pics of the blue sky and set up my foil board on the beach when local resident and fellow windsurfer walked up for a chat, he was going to rig his 7.5 for his 130 lt. Board, there looked a enough wind for my 5.75 so I rigged that which proved absolutely perfect for 95% of the time:) Launching around 9.30 I thought I was going to be underpowered but I reached the wind line about 100m offshore and didn’t really look back for over two hours, this was The Manaor at its best with nice smooth water, WSW is definitely a good direction for this spot and I did loads of long runs to Wadgate and beyond! I had it all to myself for ages before Al Wiz joined me on the water on his fin board with two wingers and another fin sailor joining us later! The wind did swing more cross shore but it was best to gybe a bit off the beach and the wind eased close in, getting knackered I decided to head in for a snack and drink and check my mileage. I had done 33 nautical miles so close to reaching 40 miles so I decided to head out again for a few more runs even though the breeze was a little patchy now and in the end did a little over 40 n/m which equated to 46 miles, a year PB, mostly sailed in sunshine too, so definitely a 5 star session today and completely knackered but with more rain forecast for tomorrow I can have a day off. Home by 2.30 and Mag had just baked a cake which went down well with a cuppa, top day:)
