Session Details

Sunday 10th May – Windsurf *** The Dip at Felixstowe – cloudy and breezy.

Foil – 19.94 knot max, 18.05 knot ave., 7.91 knot hour, 16.67 knot mile, 20.70 km., 14.54 knot alpha.  

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Naish Nalu 4.75m.

As I haven’t been on the water for several day and did miss a nice afternoon session yesterday in the sunshine I was keen to get out today even if a fresh wind from the NE forecast and a tad on the chilly side too :( With low water around midday several were heading to The Dip in Felixstowe between 10 and 11 so after a quick breakfast I loaded the van and discovered I had a large dent in the bottom of my lightweight foil board so swopped it for the heavy version! I then headed down to the beach around 10.30 as the sailors started to arrive, a selection of wingers, fin sailors and me on my windsurf foil! I set up my board and was just about to rig my 4.75 as it looked fairly breezy when I realized I had left my 4m mast at home, so a quick drive to pick it up, then I got my mast extension stuck in my mast which was a fight to get out, so not a great start but I was ready to join the others out on the water, the fin sailors had rigged between 5 and 7m sails, the wingers 4 and 5 m wings with a few kiters also out just up the coast! My old Naish 4.75 proved OK, it was a bit lighter inshore where the sea was smoother but pretty breezy out where the sea picked up big but it was good fun riding the swells but knackering for a pensioner! After several runs I realized my mast was not sleeved properly so came ashore to sort it out before heading out for a few more runs but the wind was turning more north and becoming patchy so decided to call it a day along with most of the others! Then all I had to do was pack up and head for home, shower and have a yummy chicken sandwich made by Mag before dozing off watching stuff on YouTube:)
